✨ Cooking Recipes From Storybook Vale | Appetizers

✨ With the Eternity Isle cooking catalogue now complete, it felt like the perfect time to begin a brand-new adventure through the Storybook Vale. Rather than easing into it with just a handful of recipes, today's post collects every appetizer available in the expansion, making it a great starting point if you're looking to build out your Storybook Vale recipe collection.

One of the first things I noticed while preparing this batch is how fresh and distinctive it feels. There are plenty of vibrant smoothies, lighter snacks, and rustic dishes that suit the atmosphere of Storybook Vale perfectly. Recipes like Greek Potatoes, Baked Feta & Olives, and Tzatziki bring a cozy Mediterranean feel, while the colourful smoothie recipes add a brighter, more playful touch. Together making it a visually varied appetizer collection.

I also enjoy how many of these recipes highlight ingredients introduced with Storybook Vale itself. Working with a new pantry of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other local ingredients makes this catalogue feel genuinely different from the cooking I've been doing recently, and it's a nice reminder that every expansion brings its own identity to the kitchen.

How to Cook These Recipes
(Click on any image to enlarge)

These recipes primarily use ingredients found throughout Storybook Vale, making them a great introduction to the expansion's unique produce and cooking ingredients. While a few of these recipes may also use familiar items from the main Valley, most of this collection encourages you to explore the Vale and make the most of everything it has to offer.

In addition to the images above, you'll find a full breakdown of every recipe featured in this entry below, including ingredients, star ratings, Energy values, and Star Coin sell prices. Keep in mind that Energy and Star Coin values may vary depending on the ingredients you choose for recipes that allow generic items, or if you decide to add an extra ingredient while cooking.

This marks the beginning of my Storybook Vale cooking catalogue, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it grow over the coming weeks. There are still plenty of delicious entrΓ©e and dessert recipes waiting to be documented, and I can't wait to keep expanding the collection.

If you'd like to explore even more recipes in the meantime, you can also browse my complete Eternity Isle appetizer collection here, or visit the Cooking hub to explore every recipe I've catalogued so far.

Thanks for joining me in today's cooking journal entry 🌿 I hope this collection helps inspire your next meal in Storybook Vale, and I'll be back soon with the next chapter in the catalogue.

✨ Premium Shop: Prince John Set

The Prince John Set is such a fun little collection, especially if you love the charm and personality of Robin Hood. Featuring Prince John's Throne, Carriage, and Tent, the set feels like it was pulled straight from the animated classic and dropped into the Valley. The moment I saw it in the Premium Shop, I couldn't help but smile at how recognisable each piece is.

What I enjoy most about this set is how much character it brings to a space. Rather than being generic royal furniture, each item feels unique and packed with personality. Prince John's Throne makes a fantastic centrepiece, while the carriage and tent help create a complete scene that looks like it belongs in a travelling royal camp. It's the sort of set that immediately sparks decorating ideas.

As someone who enjoys creating themed areas, I can see these pieces fitting perfectly into a dedicated Robin Hood build or becoming part of a larger medieval-inspired section of the Valley. There's also a wonderful nostalgic feeling that comes with displaying furniture inspired by such a beloved Disney classic, making the set feel even more special.

For me, this is one of those smaller Premium Shop bundles that delivers a lot of charm despite only including three pieces. If you're a fan of Robin Hood or simply enjoy decorating with furniture that tells a story, this one is definitely worth a look before the shop rotates again. Available in this week's Premium Shop rotation for 1,500 Moonstones.

✨ Villager Overview: Gaston

✨ This Villager Overview heads to Eternity Isle, focusing on Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. Loud, confident, and completely convinced he’s the hero of every story, Gaston brings a very different kind of energy to the Valley. While he may not always have the best ideas, there’s something surprisingly entertaining about watching him stumble through situations with absolute confidence.

From unlocking him in Eternity Isle to progressing through his friendship quests, Gaston’s storyline leans into adventure, self-importance, and the occasional reality check - often creating some genuinely funny moments along the way πŸ‘€ (DLC: Eternity Isle)

πŸ”“ How To Unlock Gaston
(Click on any image to enlarge)

You'll first encounter Gaston as you progress through the Eternity Isle storyline and begin “The Wanderer of the Dunes” story quest after unlocking the Glittering Dunes biome. To unlock Gaston, you'll need to complete three story quests - The Wanderer of the Dunes, The Wild Tangle's Swarm, and Diamond in the Rough - before he is officially added to your villager collection.

Unlike most of the characters in the game, Gaston doesn't arrive through a Realm or traditional unlock path. Instead, his introduction feels more integrated into the Eternity Isle story itself, which helps make his arrival feel like a natural part of the expansion's progression.

Gaston's Lodge fits his personality perfectly. It's rugged, oversized, and packed with hunting-themed details that feel straight out of the Beauty and the Beast world. I actually found it surprisingly easy to work into existing village builds or a new desert-themed area around Eternity Isle.

πŸ“œ Gaston’s Friendship Quests

Gaston’s quests are exactly what you’d expect - larger than life, slightly ridiculous, and often centred around proving just how impressive he thinks he is. That confidence regularly leads to some entertaining situations, and his questline never takes itself too seriously.

Here are Gaston’s friendship quests in order:

Level 2: Center of Attention
Level 4: Gaston the... Hero?
Level 7: No One Heroes Like Gaston
Level 10: Dreamlight Valley's Next Top LeFou

There’s a lot of humour throughout Gaston’s storyline, and I found myself enjoying his quests more than I expected (at least from memory... as I completed his quests a while ago). Beneath all the bravado, there are also a few moments that give him a little more depth than his first impressions suggest.

Like all villagers, Gaston's friendship level can be increased through daily conversations, favourite gifts, completing quests, or by asking him to hang out while you complete tasks around Eternity Isle and the Valley. Gaston became my mining companion, though I suspect he'd insist he was doing all the hard work himself.

🎁 Gaston’s Friendship Rewards

Gaston’s rewards lean heavily into rustic, hunting-inspired designs, with a mix of decorative pieces, clothing items, and furniture that reflect his larger-than-life personality. While some rewards are quite specific to his theme, there are also a few pieces that work surprisingly well in more general outdoor builds.

Level 2: Gaston's Archery Stand (Furniture item)
Level 3: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 4: 500 Star Coins
Level 5: Gaston's Pompadour (Clothing item | Hairstyle)
Level 6: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 7: 1,000 Star Coins
Level 8: Gaston's Red Leather Coat (Clothing item)
Level 9: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 10: Gaston's Portrait (Furniture item)

The following rewards are unlocked by completing Gaston’s friendship quests, rather than simply reaching each friendship level:

⭐ Level 2: Gaston's Stall
⭐ Level 4: Golden Eel Trophy, Golden Piranha Trophy, Golden Prisma Shrimp Trophy (Furniture items)

πŸ₯© Gaston’s Stall

Gaston’s Stall is unlocked during his level 2 friendship quest and offers a rotating selection of meat ingredients to purchase using Star Coins. It provides the only source of Venison, Poultry, and Pork in Eternity Isle, making it an incredibly useful stop for cooking and completing quests. Stock rotates daily, with ingredients available in either unlimited quantities or limited amounts depending on the day. Once unlocked, Gaston’s Stall can be moved anywhere in Eternity Isle.

Gaston absolutely delivered when it came to his personality. He’s still arrogant, dramatic, and completely convinced of his own greatness, but there’s enough self-awareness sprinkled throughout his quests that he becomes genuinely enjoyable to have around. His animations are also fantastic. Whether he’s flexing, posing, or proudly wandering around as though everyone should be paying attention to him, he always feels true to the original character.

I can also appreciate how different he feels compared to the other Beauty and the Beast villagers. While Belle, Beast, Lumiere, and Cogsworth bring warmth and charm to the Valley, Gaston introduces a completely different dynamic and energy.

If you're also working through the Beauty and the Beast characters, you can check out my Villager Overviews hub for Belle, Beast, Lumiere, and Cogsworth, along with other characters.

That wraps up this Villager Overview - thanks so much for reading! Gaston now completes my Beauty and the Beast Villager Overview collection, and I’ve really enjoyed revisiting each character while putting these guides together. Next up, I’ll be turning my attention toward the Hercules collection, and I’m looking forward to seeing how those characters settle into the Valley.

✨ Developer Update: Summer Showcase Drops June 17!

✨ The excitement is already building for the upcoming Disney Dreamlight Valley Summer Showcase, and while we still don't know exactly what Gameloft has planned, it's hard not to start speculating about what could be on the way.

As always, nothing is confirmed until the showcase itself, but that's part of the fun. There’s something special about that period between a teaser being released and the official reveal. For me, that feeling never gets old.

A New Roadmap Feels Like The Most Likely Reveal

If I had to make one prediction, it would be that we're getting a brand-new roadmap.

With the first half of the year already taking shape, a roadmap would give us a clearer picture of what’s still to come throughout the remainder of the year. New updates, upcoming Realms, character arrivals, events, quality-of-life improvements, and it wouldn't be a developer showcase without a few surprises along the way.

As not all characters coming will be revealed, one of my favourite things about roadmap reveals is seeing the DLV community immediately start trying to work out which characters are coming with each update. It always turns into a fun guessing game while we wait for official confirmations.

Could A New DLC Already Be On The Way?

This is where things get interesting. The latest Summer Showcase artwork make this next update feel different. It gives me the feeling that Gameloft might be preparing to reveal more than just the next few free content updates.

I wouldn't be surprised if some form of paid expansion is announced. But what I'm particularly curious about is whether Dreamlight Valley could experiment with a smaller-scale DLC.

Up until now, paid expansions have introduced substantial new areas to explore, but what if Gameloft tried something different? Could we see a mini DLC focused around a single biome?

Would it connect directly to Wishblossom Ranch through an expansion of existing areas, such as the beach in the Sundae Shores section of Pixie Acres? Or perhaps through one of the existing tunnels I've spotted throughout Wishblossom Ranch - particularly the one on your left as you enter the Hunny Falls area of Pixie Acres. Alternatively, could it be a completely separate destination accessed through its own portal location? There are so many possibilities.

If this did end up being a smaller expansion, another question naturally follows: would that mean a larger, more traditional DLC is still planned for later in the year? At this stage, there are far more questions than answers, but that's exactly why the showcase feels so exciting.

The New Items Are Always My Favourite Part

As much as I love new characters and story content, one of the things I look forward to most with every update is seeing all the new items that arrive alongside it. I still have plenty of crafting recipes left to complete from previous DLCs, yet I'm always excited to discover new furniture, decorations, landscaping pieces, clothing, and rewards.

Every update adds fresh inspiration for decorating projects and new reasons to revisit areas of the Valley that might have been untouched for a while. Even after all this time, seeing an entirely new collection of items appear never stops being exciting.

More Than Just Characters

Whenever a major update is announced, most conversations naturally focus on which Disney characters might be joining next. But for me, it's always the complete package - especially with any newly added DLC.

It's the new cooking recipes.
The new ingredients.
The flowers.
The fish.
The crafting materials.
The Scrooge's Store additions.
The quest rewards.

The little details that slowly build out the world and make the Valley feel bigger with every update. And that first teaser image always brings the same feeling: knowing that an entirely new collection of discoveries is on the way.

Who Could Be Joining The Valley?

If I had to make a prediction based on recent teasers and community speculation, Winnie the Pooh and Ralph feel like strong possibilities.

Both characters have been heavily discussed throughout the community - at least from what I regularly see in comment sections, online forums, and social media posts - and they would each bring something completely different to the Valley.

Based on the latest artwork tease, Pooh would add another cozy, nostalgic Disney character to the game, joining Tigger and further expanding the Winnie the Pooh collection already in Dreamlight Valley. This could naturally lead to future arrivals such as Piglet, Eeyore, and other beloved characters from the Hundred Acre Wood.

As for one of the potential free content updates, Ralph feels like a strong possibility. With Ralph joining Vanellope, this could open the door to some fun storylines and potentially pave the way for more Wreck-It Ralph characters down the line, such as Shank, Fix-It Felix or even King Candy (potential Realmweaver twist?!). Either way, both franchises feel like they still have plenty of room to grow within the Valley.

My Dream Character Reveal

If we're talking purely about wish-list characters, there are two names right at the top of mine:

Yzma and Kronk.

I absolutely love The Emperor's New Groove.

It's one of Disney's funniest films, and I honestly think it's still underrated compared to many of the studio's bigger franchises. The dynamic between Yzma and Kronk would fit Dreamlight Valley perfectly. The quests would be hilarious, the furniture set could be incredible, and I can already imagine the chaos those two would bring to the Valley.

Would they be my most expected reveal? Probably not.

Would they be my favourite reveal? Absolutely.

Looking Ahead

For now, all we can do is wait - but thankfully, there's not long to go. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that we're only about a week away from the Summer Showcase. With so many questions still unanswered, the anticipation is definitely starting to build.

Whether the Summer Showcase reveals a new roadmap, future character arrivals, a DLC announcement, or something completely unexpected, it already feels like one of the most exciting events on the Dreamlight Valley calendar.

And honestly, that's part of the magic.

The theories, the speculation, the excitement of seeing a teaser for the very first time, and the anticipation of knowing that a whole new wave of adventures, characters, recipes, decorations, and discoveries could be just around the corner.

Can't wait for the full reveal, and to begin the inevitable trailer re-watches while breaking down every little detail of what's coming to the game. I'll be covering the details of the Summer Showcase so be sure to follow along. Thanks for reading along with today's Cozy Valley Journal entry!

✨ Premium Shop: Gilded Agora Bundle

✨ With how busy I've been with the latest update, I almost forgot to check the Premium Shop this week, and I’m so glad I didn’t because the Gilded Agora Bundle immediately caught my eye. As someone who loves the larger decorating kits, this one felt like an instant purchase for me. Not only does it fit perfectly alongside the Hercules update, but it also offers a fantastic foundation if you're looking to create grand plazas, gathering spaces, or themed areas especially within Mythopia.

The bundle includes five pieces, but they feel substantial enough to make a real impact when decorating. I’ve always found that these kits provide some of the best value in the Premium Shop because they give you multiple pieces to work with rather than a single decorative item. That extra flexibility makes it much easier to build an entire scene and really bring an idea to life.

What I love most about the Gilded Agora Bundle is how inspiring it feels. The moment I saw it, I started thinking about larger-scale projects and how I could incorporate it into Mythopia. It has that grand, classical style that instantly helps a space feel more established, while still leaving plenty of room to personalise the area around it. I haven't had a chance to fully experiment with it yet, but I already know it's going to be at the centre of a future build.

If you've been considering picking this one up, don't leave it too long. The Premium Shop refreshes soon, and this bundle won't be around forever. I'd hate to miss out on a kit like this, especially one that feels so perfectly matched to the current Hercules-inspired content. For me, this is easily one of the standout Premium Shop offerings of the week, and I can't wait to see what I can create with it. You can grab this one for 2,000 Moonstones.
