✨ Villager Overview: Cheshire Cat

✨ This Villager Overview takes a slightly more curious turn, focusing on the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Known for his cryptic advice and habit of appearing and disappearing at will, he brings a playful, slightly unpredictable energy to the Valley that feels completely different from most other villagers.

From unlocking him to progressing through his friendship quests, the Cheshire Cat’s storyline leans into riddles, misdirection, and a bit of light chaos - in a way that somehow still works.

🔓 How To Unlock Cheshire Cat
(Click on any image to enlarge)

To unlock the Cheshire Cat, you’ll need to open the Alice in Wonderland Realm inside the Dream Castle using Dreamlight. Once inside, you’ll need to complete both realm quests and first welcome Alice into the Valley. From here, you’ll unlock a set of three follow-up quests as you begin to notice Cheshire Cat appearing throughout the Valley. These three quests are given by Scrooge, Remy, and Alice, and once you’ve completed them and placed Cheshire Cat’s Tree in the Valley, you’ll officially unlock him.

The Cheshire Cat doesn’t follow the usual structure when it comes to his presence in the Valley. Rather than a traditional home setup, his integration feels a little more abstract, which honestly suits his character perfectly and adds something a bit different compared to other villagers.

📜 Cheshire Cat's Friendship Quests

The Cheshire Cat’s quests are easily some of the more unusual in the game. They lean into puzzles, odd interactions, and moments that don’t always make sense at first - but that’s exactly the point.

Here are the Cheshire Cat’s friendship quests in order:

Level 2: Furniture Fluster
Level 4: It's All Nonsense!
Level 7: The Uncrafting Station
Level 10: On a Wild Cheshire Chase

There’s a mix of playful confusion and clever design throughout these quests. You’ll often find yourself figuring things out as you go, rather than following a straightforward path - which makes them stand out compared to more traditional questlines.

One of the more interesting unlocks tied to the Cheshire Cat comes from his level 7 friendship quest, where you gain access to the Uncrafting Station - a feature that lets you break down crafted furniture back into its original materials. It’s a surprisingly useful addition, especially if you’ve crafted items you no longer need, and I’ll be diving into this in more detail in a separate guide in the future.

As with other villagers, you can increase friendship levels with Cheshire Cat through daily conversations, giving favourite gifts, completing quests, or asking him to hang out while you work through tasks around the Valley. Hanging out with him wasn’t a particular favourite of mine, as he tends to not be visible half the time... though seeing his paw prints appear on the ground as he follows you around (while invisible) is a clever touch.

🎁 Cheshire Cat’s Friendship Rewards

The Cheshire Cat’s rewards lean into a more whimsical, slightly surreal aesthetic - with items that feel a little more playful and unusual compared to standard furniture sets. They fit really nicely into themed builds if you’re going for something a bit more creative or abstract.

Level 2: Surreal Cabinet (Furniture item)
Level 3: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 4: 500 Star Coins
Level 5: Cheshire Cat Wallpaper (Wallpaper)
Level 6: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 7: 1,000 Star Coins
Level 8: Absurd Cabinet (Furniture item)
Level 9: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 10: Cheshire Chest (Contains clothing items; unlocks after completing his level 10 friendship quest; the chest does not remain in your inventory as furniture item)

⭐ Completing the Cheshire Cat’s level 10 friendship quest unlocks the Cheshire Cat Jacket (Clothing item) and Cheshire Cat Gloves (Clothing item), both found inside the Cheshire Chest rewarded upon completion of his level 10 quest.

The following are additional rewards tied to completing Cheshire Cat’s friendship quests, rather than simply reaching each level:

⭐ Level 4: Nonsense Banquet Table (Furniture item); Garlic Chocolate Tart (Cooking recipe) and Tea Sandwiches (Cooking recipe).
⭐ Level 7: Uncrafting Station (Furniture item)

You’ll find these quest-locked rewards highlighted in the images below (click to enlarge).

✨ The Cheshire Cat has been one of the more unique villagers to have around - not because he’s overly active, but because you never quite know what he’s going to do next.

There’s something really fun about how he appears and disappears around the Valley. It adds a bit of unpredictability that most villagers don’t have, and it makes the world feel a little less static... though, I’ll admit I was a little relieved once I maxed out his friendship level and completed all of his quests.

His overall design and animations are also spot on. The floating grin, the way he fades in and out - it all feels very true to his character. And while his quests can feel a little confusing at times, that actually works in his favour. It’s all part of the experience.

Having both Alice and Cheshire Cat in the Valley adds a really nice contrast - her more grounded presence balances out his chaotic energy surprisingly well. You can also check out my Villager Overview on Alice here

One thing I appreciated most with the Alice in Wonderland update was the range of unique furniture pieces added. I was so happy with the variety and the overall designs of each item - both equally unique and whimsical, in line with the spirit of the duo.

That wraps up this Villager Overview - thanks so much for reading! The Cheshire Cat has now been added to the Villager Overview hub, and I’ll continue building out the collection with more characters soon.

✨ Villager Overview: Alice

✨ My next Villager Overview focuses on Alice! After unlocking the Alice in Wonderland Realm and completing a series of adventurous realm quests, Alice makes her way to the Valley with her signature curiosity and charm. Read on to learn how to unlock her, where she lives, and what rewards she brings, making her such a whimsical addition to the Valley. (As with all posts, click on any image to enlarge) 🐇

🔓 How To Unlock Alice

Alice is the endlessly curious heroine of Alice in Wonderland. Known for her thirst for knowledge and imagination far bigger than her world, she brings that same whimsical charm into Disney Dreamlight Valley.

To unlock Alice, you’ll need to open the Alice in Wonderland Realm in the Dream Castle (Dreamlight required), then complete the "Leaving Wonderland" realm quest. During that quest, you’ll be prompted to construct Alice’s House in the Valley, and once her house is built, Alice will become a resident of the Valley, unlocking her entry and joining your existing character collection!

Alice’s cozy cottage reflects her Wonderland roots - painted in soft hues with a whimsical design that’ll add character to any area of your Valley. I still haven't found a permanent spot for her home yet.... I'm tossing up between the Glade of Trust, Forest of Valor, or maybe somewhere in one of the biomes in Everafter - Teapot Falls springs to mind as the potential winner!

📜 Complete Alice Friendship Quest List

Alice's friendship quests are delightful nods to Wonderland lore, and once each friendship quest is completed, you'll receive more friendship rewards to boost your friendship level even further. To further help with increasing Alice's friendship level, be sure to give her gifts often (they reset daily, and you can give up to three like all other villagers) and hang out with her while completing villager tasks all over the Valley.

Level 2: Books with No Pictures
Level 4: Mimsy Were the Borogoves
Level 7: The Fractured Glass
Level 10: A Very Merry Unbirthday

🎁 Alice's Friendship Rewards

As you build friendship with Alice, you’ll unlock Wonderland-themed items and rewards that perfectly suit her aesthetic. Whether it's furniture, motifs, or fashion, her rewards bring Wonderland back into your Valley long after she’s moved in. Check out the list below:

Level 2: Wonderland Bed (Furniture item)
Level 3: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 4: 500 Star Coins
Level 5: Door Knob Door (Furniture item)
Level 6: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 7: 1000 Star Coins
Level 8: Royal Red Armchair (Furniture item)
Level 9: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 10: Whimsical Wonderland Dress (Clothing item; unlocks when completing the level 10 friendship quest)

⭐ Completing the level 10 friendship quest also unlocks the Unbirthday Cake (furniture item). The item comes as pictured below with the table and cake on top, and can be used as a villager gathering function when in camera mode.

Completing the level 10 friendship quest also unlocks a 'Kaleidoscope' quest item, which currently has no use. I have transferred this item into one of my storage chests, should it be needed in future.

I personally enjoyed Alice's friendship quests and was delighted by most of the furniture pieces that came with her update, including the "Wonderland Candle", a crafting recipe which is unlocked after completing her level 4 friendship quest!

Thanks for joining me on today’s Villager Overview entry! I’ve updated the Villager Overviews page and added Alice to the growing list - be sure to check back as more characters are added 📖
