✨ Villager Overview: Mother Gothel

Dreamlight Valley Tangled - Mother Gothel Villager Overview

✨ Today’s entry is all about Mother Gothel - the manipulative and calculating villain who brings mystery, control, and a darker edge to Disney Dreamlight Valley. This visual overview takes a closer look at Mother Gothel in the Valley, including how to unlock her, where she lives, her friendship quests, and the rewards you can unlock as you level her up. (Click on any image to enlarge)

πŸ”“ How To Unlock Mother Gothel

Dreamlight Valley Mother Gothel How to UnlockDreamlight Valley Mother Gothel Villager House - Giant Willow

Mother Gothel is unlocked through the main Dreamlight Valley storyline and becomes available after progressing far enough to restore key story elements in the Valley.

To unlock her, you’ll need to open the Glade of Trust biome (Dreamlight required) and complete 'The Curse' story quest. Once these steps are completed, Mother Gothel will officially join the Valley and be added to your villager collection.

Unlike many villagers, Mother Gothel’s home is already placed in the Valley. She resides inside the Great Willow which is located in the Glade of Trust - a fittingly eerie and overgrown space that reflects her secretive nature. The Great Willow is a massive tree that feels both ancient and unsettling. Its twisting roots and shadowy interior perfectly match her manipulative personality, making it one of the most distinctive villager homes in the Valley. Since her home is fixed in place, it can’t be moved - but it adds strong atmosphere to the biome it inhabits and helps shape the story-driven side of the Valley.

πŸ“œ Complete Mother Gothel Friendship Quest List

Dreamlight Valley Mother Gothel Friendship Quests

Mother Gothel’s friendship quests lean heavily into her personality - controlling, clever, and always several steps ahead. As you increase her friendship level through conversations, gifts, and quests, you’ll unlock story moments that expand on her role in the Valley. Below are the quests you’ll encounter with Mother Gothel:

Level 2: My Kingdom For A Scroll
Level 4: Shine A Light
Level 7: The Sunstone Fragments
Level 10: Village Project: Restoring The Sunstone

To boost Mother Gothel’s friendship level more quickly, as with all characters: give favourite gifts (up to three per day, which reset daily), speak with her daily, and hang out together while exploring or completing tasks.

🎁 Mother Gothel’s Friendship Rewards

Dreamlight Valley Mother Gothel Friendship Rewards

As you build friendship with Mother Gothel, you’ll unlock rewards that reflect her darker aesthetic and Tangled-inspired themes. These items are perfect for adding a more dramatic or villainous touch to your Valley builds.

Level 2: Golden Tower Necklace (Clothing item)
Level 3: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 4: 500 Star Coins
Level 5: Long Curly Hair (Clothing item)
Level 6: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 7: 1,000 Star Coins
Level 8: Golden Dagger-Sharp Nails (Clothing item)
Level 9: Design Motif (Customisable)
Level 10: Mother Gothel's Standing Mirror (Furniture item; unlocks when completing the level 10 friendship quest)

Mother Gothel’s quests bring a darker tone to the Valley, offering a nice contrast to some of the more light-hearted villagers. Whether you enjoy her for story progression, rewards, or pure villain energy, she’s a memorable character to have roaming the Valley.

I personally enjoy everything when it comes to Mother Gothel - from her animations, quirky one-liners, and, well... her attitude. She's also from one of my favourite Disney animation films, Tangled, so my like for her may be a little biased. Even after completing all of her quests, she remains one of few villagers I like to spend regular time with.

Thanks for joining me for today’s Villager Overview! Mother Gothel has now been added to the Villager Overviews hub - and I will continue to add more characters over the next few weeks πŸ“–

✨ The Winter Floating Festival: Event Recipes

Winter Floating Festival How To Make Festive Blueberry, Cherry, Mint Hot Cocoa

The Winter Floating Festival introduces three new recipes that play an important role in solving several of the event’s puzzles. These festive hot cocoa meals aren’t just new recipes for the collection - you’ll need them to progress through parts of the puzzles on the floating island and unlock rewards along the way.

Festive Hot Cocoa Recipes

There are three festive-themed recipes available during the event:
Festive Blueberry Hot Cocoa
Festive Cherry Hot Cocoa
Festive Mint Hot Cocoa

All three recipes require a special ingredient: the Festive Cocoa Bean. While it looks identical to the regular Cocoa Bean found in the Valley, it is a separate, event-exclusive ingredient. The Festive Cocoa Bean can only be found on the Winter Floating Festival’s floating island, so be sure to stock up while the event is active.

How to Unlock the Recipes

To unlock the festive hot cocoa recipes, you’ll need to explore the floating island to locate red chests scattered throughout the event area. Each chest contains one of the hot cocoa recipes, gradually expanding your cooking options as you progress through the festival.

Once unlocked, these recipes will appear in your cooking collection menu and can be prepared like any other meal, provided you have the required ingredients.

Why These Recipes Matter

These winter recipes are more than just cozy seasonal treats. They’re required to solve several puzzles during the Winter Floating Festival event, making them essential for progressing through the event and unlocking all available rewards before the event ends.

✨ Every Character Introduced to Disney Dreamlight Valley in 2025

New Disney Characters Added to Dreamlight Valley in 2025

2025 was a truly memorable year for Disney Dreamlight Valley, bringing one of the most exciting and character-filled lineups the game has seen so far. Across free updates and major DLC releases, the Valley continued to grow, evolve, and feel more alive than ever. Let’s take a look back at all the characters who joined the game throughout the year.

The year began strong with
Aladdin and Jasmine, opening the door to new adventures inspired by Agrabah. Not long after, the Valley took a whimsical turn with Alice and the Cheshire Cat, whose arrival added a touch of Wonderland magic and playful mystery. These two updates were the biggest of the free content updates of the year, in my opinion, and also bringing with them two massive new realms to explore.

Next came a long-awaited moment for many players (myself included) -
Peter Pan, alongside the long-teased entrance to Skull Rock, which finally made its debut. This update felt especially significant, tying together lingering story threads that we all had been speculating about for quite some time.

The story deepened further with
Part Two of the Storybook Vale DLC, introducing Aurora and Maleficent. Their arrival expanded the narrative in a meaningful way, blending classic fairy-tale charm with darker, more dramatic storytelling.

Mid-year brought an emotional shift with
Joy and Sadness from Inside Out, adding a unique dynamic to the Valley and reminding us that Dreamlight Valley continues to explore new tones and themes. This update also brought a new realm to the Dream Castle (the third new realm of the year). Later updates welcomed LumiΓ¨re and Cogsworth, bringing even more life to the Beauty and the Beast realm and I was certainly delighted with their iconic personalities.

One of the biggest highlights of the year was no doubt
The Wishblossom Ranch DLC, which delivered an impressive lineup of characters: Snow White, Cruella De Vil, Tigger, and Tinker Bell. This DLC also introduced mounts for the first time, including Maximus, Khan, and Pegasus, with Sven arriving as a special exclusive mount - a huge moment for customisation and fast exploration.

The year wrapped up beautifully with the most anticipated
Cinderella, a fitting addition that tied into the game’s cozy, fairy-tale roots and closed out 2025.

Of course all these characters came with their quests, friendship rewards, and a few new surprises (getting Magic Carpet as a companion was my favourite!) Alongside these character releases, we also enjoyed several standout
Star Paths, each packed with themed rewards and decorations that helped shape the Valley’s evolving look throughout the year.

With such a packed 2025 behind us, it’s exciting to look ahead to 2026. Based on last year’s developer updates, we already know there’s plenty to be excited about - including
Lady and the Tramp, Pocahontas, and possibly even Hercules making their way to the Valley.

▶️
If you’d like to see all of these character releases in motion, I’ve put together a cozy 2025 recap video highlighting every character introduced this year - you can watch it here.

Thanks for reading along in today’s Cozy Valley Journal entry, and here’s to another magical year ahead in Dreamlight Valley.
